After working in Sydney for three years, Susan moved home to Brisbane in 2005. She established a clinic in Paddington and then relocated to Gordon Park on Brisbane's northside to expand her clinic in May 2007, now employing 4 highly skilled Chiropractors.
At age eleven, Susan knew she wanted to become a Chiropractor.
In preparation for this she graduated Bachelor of Science (Anatomy) from University of Queensland, then moved to Sydney to complete her Master of Chiropractic at Macquarie University. Whilst still a student she worked for the Department of Chiropractic tutoring and examining Chiropractic Skills. In her final year she began her training in Applied Kinesiology (AK), normally a post-graduate course.
In October 2008, Susan travelled to Belgium to become Australia's 8th practitioner to earn Diplomate of International Board of Applied Kinesiology status. She is one of five Australian Chiropractors on the Board of Certified Teachers for Applied Kinesiology and is one of two Australian teachers for the Retained Neonatal Reflexes. Over the past eight years she has contributed to Applied Kinesiology research advancing our knowledge of Retained Neonatal Reflexes and postural reflex patterns.
Susan has outstanding credentials and experience in dealing with a wide range of health issues. She specialises in a holistic approach using Applied Kinesiology, meridian clearing, muscle balancing, cranial adjusting, and gentle manipulation.
Susan has a further specialty in paediatrics, attracting children with learning delays, behavioural problems, and developmental concerns.
Having always been intruiged by the puzzling complexities of the human body, Susan’s aim is to unlock the hidden potential of each person she treats.

Dr. Abbey Wiseman is a Macquarie university graduate of chiropractic, having obtained both a Bachelor of Science in chiropractic and a Master of Chiropractic. Since graduation Abbey has practiced in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales at a family based centre, where she established a thriving paediatric practice based on word of mouth.
Abbey grew up in the chiropractic paradigm and knows first hand the role that effective chiropractic has to play in the lives of the infant to the elderly. She believes in the body’s ability to express its natural state and therefore, given the right help will heal itself naturally. Abbey’s core beliefs regarding wellbeing encompasses chiropractic, nutrition and exercise believing that good heath starts with what we do, what we eat and what we think.
Just as Abbey has been checked regularly by her local chiropractor from 7 months old, Abbey is passionate about adjusting the infant. She believes that prevention and correction should begin young, thereby allowing the body to grow healthy and strong. Abbey has seen first hand the powerful role chiropractic can play on not only the child but also on the family unit. A child who is comfortable in their own skin is happier and more interactive with their environment whether that be at school or at home.
With a desire to be holistic and specific in her care as a chiropractor Abbey’s postgraduate studies have been focused on providing gentle and effective care for all ages, from newborn to the elderly. Abbey practices chiropractic using Applied Kinesiology (AK), Sacrooccipital Technique (SOT), Webster technique (for pregnancy) and Gonstead.
Abbey deeply treasures the role she has to play as a Chiropractor in the lives of her patients and looks forward to helping you and your family reach your natural inborn potential.

Dr Heidi Hedstrom BA, Dr Chiropractic, Certified AK
Sadly, Dr Heidi will be leaving us mid September to return home to Wisconsin with her partner Gary.
Dr Heidi has been a part of the YourBodyWorks Team since 2008. We wish her every success in her Permanent Residency application from abroad and for all her future endeavours - wherever the wind shall carry you.
Dr Heidi Hedstrom is originally from Wisconsin, USA. She has been under chiropractic care since the age of three.
As Heidi started her university studies, becoming a chiropractor was an obvious choice given her strong belief in the power chiropractic has on maximising the body’s capabilities.
Heidi graduated with distinction in language studies and pre-medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, before beginning a five-year Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the birthplace of chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, USA. While studying, Heidi also worked in the chiropractic research facility, as well as in the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics as a teaching assistant. In her final year, Heidi participated in a Clinic Abroad Mission trip to Brazil, where she helped bring chiropractic to those in need of health care. Heidi earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree with Honours.
After finishing her degree, Heidi moved to Australia to work in Adelaide, then Brisbane where she furthered her post-grad study becoming certified in Applied Kinesiology. She is known for her caring, patient manner and her gentle adjustments. Heidi is well trained in many adjusting techniques, such as Activator, Thompson Technique, Gonstead Technique and Diversified Technique. Dr Jill Hopley BSc, MChiro, NET Certified
Jill graduated from Macquarie University in Sydney, with a Masters of Chiropractic after previously completing a Bachelor of Science (Anatomy) at the University of NSW.
Upon graduation, Jill worked in a fun beachside clinic in Sydney and then relocated to the UK and lived there for eight years. In the UK, she owned a successful and busy chiropractic clinic in the centre of London.
Jill returned to Australia with her husband and twin toddlers and newborn baby. She returns with a passion and enthusiasm to serve the community through chiropractic health and education at Your Body Works.
Jill practices chiropractic using Applied Kinesiology, however as a Certified NET Practitioner, Jill has a special interest in helping people with conditioned physical responses to emotions.
Neuro Emotional Technique recognises that it is normal and part of our survival, to experience emotions and their related physical responses. However, if we are in a weakened state due to poor nutrition, stress or physical trauma, the physical response may not resolve naturally. We may get a physical pattern locked into the body.
Later in our lives when we experience a similar situation, or what the body perceives as a similar situation, the old emotional response kicks in. The body reacts the same way as it did with the original event. This is why some patients always get a locked jaw, tight shoulders, and digestion problems with stress, fear or any other emotions. It is now known that emotions not only reside in the brain but in the body too, hence the term “butterflies in your tummy”, “pain in the neck” and “carrying the world on your shoulders.”
Through a vitalistic, progressive approach of looking at the body’s physical, chemical, toxic and emotional state, Jill is dedicated to helping patients of all ages to live a healthy, vibrant and productive lives.

Sleepless nights for a new mum and dad are common place in the early weeks of a newborn life. Many things are normal, such as a little burp after feeding or crying when hungry, however a particularly distressing cry, constipation, poor feeding, colic or sleeping only a few hours a day is something routinely treated by the Your Body Works team.
Our chiropractors specialise in disruptive childhood behaviours and have seen hundreds of newborns and toddlers who are irritable, frequently sick or those who are behind in developing the muscle reflex patterns required for crawling and walking.
After birth, we encourage all babies be checked. Babies respond very quickly to Chiropractic care. Many newborns sleep through their treatment. It is gentle and merely aimed at removing any interference between messages sent from the brain and received by their little body. Early rectification of these easily addressed concerns can prevent many more sleepless nights and assist the child in their learning and development. It may be the very boost they need to resolve issues otherwise left undetected until school age.
